People of Zion, The Recession Is Over!

It was a scene at the end of The Matrix Revolutions -- the third in the series -- when Neo defeats the machines and Link, the character played by Harold Perrineau, shouts to the people of Zion, "It's over.  The war is over."

CNBC today did the financial equivalent of what Link did when it shouted to its viewers that the recession is over. Take a look for yourself below.

Here's the link to the Newsweek story mentioned in the CNBC piece.

This wasn't an isolated event on CNBC. For much of the days it was talking about the "shape" of the recovery instead of what it had been saying for months...the possibility of a recovery.

CNBC generally is a leader on business coverage so this change in phrasing and attitude could easily begin to be seen elsewhere.  If that happens, it will have big and positive implications for incumbents because, even though the jobs picture may not improve any time soon, consumer sentiment is very likely to improve.

That makes this a potential game-changer in Washington.

Let's see if Fox Business follows CNBC down this road.
